The laws of Zimbabwe, do not allow anybody to go in search of its minerals without a prospecting licence so the firt port of call is to get an prospecting licence more like a po;ice search warrant. The license is acquired from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development (MMMD) or a registered agent at a fee. Requirements include only a National ID for an individual, as for a company an incorporation certificate and cr14 copy of directors.
Once you have a prospecting license, the period of search is stipulated on the license before it expires. It is encouraged to get assistance with agents to ensure the area is not already claimed or restricted under EPOs (Environmental Protection Orders ).
Put temporary beacons or pegs to mark the claim's boundaries. Tags help other prospecting miners that the area has been identified. Pick coordinates of each peg using a GPRS device ( Agent can assist )
File a registration application with the MMMD, including:
- Claim coordinates
- Claim size
- Claim type (e.g., precious stone, base metal)
- Your details (name, address, etc.)
Pay the required fees and then wait for approval from the MMMD will review and approve your application.
If your claim is in a rural area, register with the local RDC.
If required, obtain an EIA certificate from the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), especially when mineral processing will be done on site like milling and gold ellution.
It will be a disservice to tell you to register the mine and not tell you to keep it. Annual inspection fees or subscriptions should be paid or ownership if forfeited
Please note that regulations and fees are subject to change. Consult the MMMD or a registered agent for the most up-to-date information and guidance.
